Anyone dissing Ichiro is either Not a true fan of baseball, or is a predjudiced redneck. I admire his professionalism and dedication, not only to the sport but to his team and teammates. He is also very dedicated to the fans and the people of the Pacific Northwest. He would never be selfish in his play, its not part of his makeup. It would not matter where he came from, his is a consumate gentleman as well as one of the very best ever in baseball. To diss him is to insult the integrity of the game itself.

I bet he'd score 150 runs a year batting in front of jeter, swisher, texiera, a-rod, and cano.... maybe 175? I was shocked to see he only scored 101 runs when he broke the hits record and finished with a cartoonish 262 hits!! that is a heck of lot runners left on.... His dedication to the franchise is VERY honorable and I wish all MLBers were like him, BUT he has probably also broken the record for most times stranded on base. Hey, at least kids buy his jersey and KNOW that he won't be gone the next season.

Would like to see Ichiro for just one season go for the power and really turn it on. If you have ever seen this guy during batting practice, he puts on a home run show, I would just enjoy seeing what he could do if he were a #3 or #5 hitter. Easily one of the best all around players of all time!!!!

For me, Ichiro is just plain fun to watch. Whether it is in the field with some amazing catches; throwing out someone at home with his amazing arm; punching a ball just over the the third baseman's head for a double; or beating out an infield hit which he does better than anyone else.
The record books speak for themselves. He isn't breaking records that were set last year or even in the last ten. He is breaking records that are 80 to 100 years old. There is no way you can legitimately argue against his skills or accomplishments. He is better than Rose, and perhaps as good or better than Ty Cobb. I for one, really appreciate his talent and only wish he had come to the Major League earlier in his career. If he had he would have shattered many more career records including Pete Rose's career hits.

Trying to get a hit is not a selfish thing. After all, Ichiro is professional, and wants to hit rather than walk. What is wrong with that? You just discriminate Japanese, as Ichiro is Japanese and is the only one that hit more than 200 hits for the past nine seasons, and will continue to hit 200 .
